When Steven was born, he came home to a 1-bedroom cinder block home with a tin roof built by his dad and uncle in Ishkooda, Alabama. Although he changed schools each year from kindergarten through 8th grade, he never let a new classroom define him. His family, eventually, settled in Richmond, California. Richmond had the most murders per capita and a higher than average incarceration rate for young Black men during this period, so the odds favored that he'd end up dead or imprisoned.
So, how did he end up at UCLA, then earn a MFA at USC's famed Cinema-Television School? How was he able to work on some of the most iconic music videos of all time? How did he build a successful career as a media producer and educator? He achieved this by Living in Motion.
